Colours in the language are descriptive verbs, which also have the nominal forms.

Forming of colour names

Noun → Progressive verb → Stative verb

• rángi 'colour' → rángiiah 'to become coloured' → ránggiiah 'to be coloured
• deéme 'gold' → deém(e)iah 'to become golden' → deémigah 'to be golden'
• myýndy 'silver' → myýnd(y)iah 'to become silver' → myýndigah 'to be silver'

 Progressive verb → Stative verb → Noun

• doóṣah 'to become light' → doóṣ(a)gah 'to be light' → doóṣti 'lightness'
• ḥyrýnah 'to become dark' → ḥyrýngah 'to be dark' → ḥyrýnti 'darkness'
• chiínah 'to become red' → chiíngah 'to be red' → chiínti 'red colour'
• seénah 'to become blue' → seéngah 'to be blue' → seénti 'blueness'
• łaáiah 'to become white' → łaáigah 'to be white' → łaáiti 'whiteness'
• tháinah 'to become grey' → tháingah 'to be grey' → tháinti 'greyness'
• buúrah 'to become brown' → buúr(a)gah 'to be brown' → buúrti 'brown colour'
• tłeéremah 'to become orange' → tłeérengah 'to be orange' → tłeéremti 'orange colour'
• moółah 'to be yellow' → moół(a)gah 'to be yellow' → moółti 'yellow colour'
• tṣég(a)nah 'to become violet' → tṣégangah 'to be violet' → tṣéganti 'violet colour'
